LEWISTON — The Clearwater Valley Rams battled through a competitive 2A State Baseball Tournament weekend, finishing the tournament with a third-place trophy after playing three games in two days against Kendrick and Potlatch.
CV opened tournament play on May 14 with an impressive 16-4 victory over the Kendrick Tigers. The Rams’ offense came alive early, finishing with 16 hits and 16 runs in one of their strongest offensive performances of the season.
Senior Barak Meyer led CV at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored, an RBI, and a 1.000 slugging percentage. Lincoln Barger also delivered a big game, collecting three hits and two RBIs while posting a .600 on-base percentage. Junior Conner Christensen added three hits and scored twice, while freshman Tovin Lundgren crossed the plate three times and added two hits of his own.
The Rams also pressured Kendrick on the bases with four stolen bases from Tanner Crosby, Kale Walle, Lane Thibert, and Harvey Wellard. On the mound, freshman Tovin Lundgren tossed 3.1 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits, and Christensen closed the game to help secure the win.
On May 15, CV faced the Potlatch Loggers. The Rams battled throughout the game but fell 15-5. Despite the loss, several Rams continued to produce offensively. Lincoln Barger went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a triple, finishing with a 2.000 on-base plus slugging percentage. Harvey Wellard added a hit and two RBIs, while Barak Meyer scored twice and reached base consistently throughout the game.
CV wrapped up tournament play later that day against Kendrick in the third-place game. The Rams fell 10-3 but earned the 2A state tournament third-place trophy to cap off their season.
Barger continued his strong tournament weekend, finishing 1-for-2 with an RBI and a .667 on-base percentage. Christensen and Tanner Crosby each added hits, while Meyer scored another run for Clearwater Valley. Defensively, Tovin Lundgren and Kale Walle both turned in perfect fielding performances, and Lincoln Barger pitched six innings while striking out four batters.
Throughout the tournament, several Rams stood out with consistent performances. Meyer contributed offensively in all three games and finished the weekend with multiple runs scored and key hits. Barger also played a major role at the plate and on the mound, collecting six hits and five RBIs during the tournament run. Lundgren provided a spark both offensively and defensively, while Christensen added timely hitting as the Rams battled through a strong state tournament field and brought home a third-place finish.
