The Colorado Rockies host the Texas Rangers for the second game of their three-game series in Denver on Tuesday night, following Colorado’s 7-6 victory on Monday. Both Major League Baseball teams are adjusting their rosters due to recent player injuries ahead of the matchup.
Texas enters the game having dropped three of its last four contests. Left-hander Sammy Peralta will make his season debut as the opener for Colorado, while right-hander Kumar Rocker will start on the mound for the Rangers.
The Rangers adjusted their lineup after placing star shortstop Corey Seager on the 15-day injured list on Monday due to lower back inflammation. Seager has faced multiple physical setbacks over the last three seasons, including missing most of the 2025 season after undergoing an appendectomy.
“Backs are tricky. I’m not going to push this thing to where we’ll then miss a significant amount of time,” said Skip Schumaker, Texas manager. “But hopefully it’s pretty quick.”

Texas is also playing without second baseman Josh Smith, who was hospitalized with viral meningitis on Friday. In response to Seager’s absence, infielder Michael Helman was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock and made his season debut during Monday’s game.
Colorado similarly altered its roster on Monday by placing outfielder Jordan Beck on the injured list due to a left hamstring strain. Beck sustained the injury during a recent workout after hitting .183 with one home run across 30 games.
“Jordan just hasn’t gotten the opportunities he wants so far, but he’s still a really good baseball player in my opinion — not a platoon player over the long course of the future,” said Warren Schaeffer, Rockies manager. “It’s just where it’s at right now. Things could always change.
Schaeffer noted that the outfielder has experienced varying success depending on the throwing hand of the opposing pitcher.
“I see a guy that’s taking solid at-bats against left-handed pitching, struggling against right-handed pitching. Honestly, it’s kind of a Catch-22, because he’s not getting a ton of at-bats against right-handed pitching — to be fair, because of how our roster is constructed this year.”
Beck’s injury allowed Sterlin Thompson to make his major league debut, securing his first big-league hit on Monday night. The victory brought Colorado’s recent record against American League West teams to 5-2, as reported by cbssports.com.
