Mississippi State pitcher Jack Bauer works against Georgia on Thursday.

HOOVER, Ala. – It was a great challenge against the No. 1 seed on Thursday for the Mississippi State Bulldogs at the Southeastern Conference Tournament.

MSU did not back down but came up just a bit short.

Even though the Mississippi State offense out-hit Georgia 9-8, it couldn’t score enough runs with those hits in a 5-3 loss to end its time in Hoover, Alabama.

All the Bulldogs from the Magnolia State could muster were single runs in the third inning, sixth inning and ninth inning.
