The Cincinnati Reds should be well rested and ready to take on the New York Mets by the time Monday afternoon’s first pitch is thrown at Citi Field on this Memorial Day.
The Reds had last Thursday off as scheduled, and then had Friday off, too, when their series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals was bagged early due to expected heavy rain. Saturday featured a doubleheader, which they split, before Sunday’s game was banged, too.

Perhaps later we will look back on this mostly lost weekend as a fortuitous development given the injury issues the Reds have been dealing with in their starting rotation and the copious amount of inaccuracy and imprecision from their walk-prone relief corps. We shall see!
Now, they’ll get Nolan McLean and the New York Mets, with the Mets rolling into this series with just a 22-31 record on the season.
First pitch is set for 4:10 PM ET. Lineups for both the Mets and Reds are listed below.
