NJ.com | Randy Miller: Max Fried had his first stinker in a Yankees uniform on Friday, which on one hand is a sign of how good he’s been considering the calendar just flipped to June. On the other hand, it came against the Dodgers in a marquee World Series rematch, and it was easily his worst outing of the year with multiple mistake pitches punished in a hurry. Fried was highly critical of himself after the start, taking the onus to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Maybe, he’ll even get a second shot at those Dodgers.

NY Daily News | Bill Madden ($): The Yankees have gotten to the top of the AL East with a wholesale effort, getting great production from stars, vets and role players alike. The offseason additions have been a tremendous aid, but the foundation of the team has been the quality and quantity of homegrown players contributing to the cause. Are there flaws? Of course, but between the early success this year and the run that the team went on last season, they’ve climbed out of the valley that 2023 put them in and made that seem like an aberration.

The Athletic | Brendan Kuty: Dodger Stadium has not been conducive to the health of the Yankees, and their fans apparently. Aaron Judge infamously got injured running into the outfield wall in 2023, losing a significant portion of the season and perhaps a shot at what could’ve been a three-peat in MVP runs. Now, on this trip to LA, a Yankees fan allegedly was struck by a falling bit of concrete from the top tier of the stadium’s seating on the first base side. The fan received medical attention, but the section was left to its own devices. The Dodgers said in a statement that they’re gathering information about the incident, but said nothing else on the matter.
