Los Angeles Angels fans are no longer keeping their opinions quiet. Fans want to see change in Angels’ organization and are demanding that owner Arte Moreno sell the team.

In addition to a fan-led protest outside of Angel Stadium over the weekend, fans have begun chanting “Sell the team” during the team’s games. The Angels have not acknowledged these fans’ demands but after Sunday’s series finale against the Texas Rangers, manager Kurt Suzuki was asked about his thoughts on the chants.

He acknowledged the fans can have their own opinions. But he did not address the root issue behind the chants. Instead, he focused more on fans participating in the “Tarps Off” trend that has been circulating around multiple MLB stadiums.

“They have the right to their opinion … I think it’s pretty neat for (our players) to have that kind of support,” Suzuki said, per The Athletic. “Isn’t that a social media thing? Is it? Was it remove the tarp, or the tarps something? Tarps off, or something like that.”

While other fanbases are participating in the “Tarps Off” trend to bring high energy and support to their favorite teams’ games, the Angels fans’ participation is about demanding change.

Mike Trout Says He Hears The Chants

Veteran outfielder Mike Trout, who has stuck by the Angels for his entire career, also acknowledged the fans’ chants in a recent interview.

“I hear the chants for sure,” Trout said to Mike DiGiovanna earlier this week. “It is what it is.”

Trout’s opinions on the fans’ demands are especially interesting because he is three-time American League Most Valuable Player that has remained loyal to a struggling franchise for 16 seasons.

Trout has only been to the playoffs once in 2014 and has not been back since. While many people are urging Trout to leave the Angels for a stronger team, he has continuously shut down trade rumors involving himself.

As of now, Moreno has not taken any action to sell the franchise. But Angels fans have said they do not plan to give up on demanding change within the organization.
