BUCKHORN — Perry Central shut out crosstown rival Hazard 4-0 in the 54th District Softball Tournament championship game at Buckhorn on Tuesday, May 19.
The Lady Commodores thrived early in the district tournament title game, manufacturing four runs during the bottom half of the opening inning.
Jossie Mullins pitched a six-hit shutout for Perry Central and earned the win in the circle. Mullins recorded five strikeouts.
Sami Noble pitched for Hazard and suffered the loss in the circle. Noble recorded eight strikeouts.
Perry Central, under the direction of Coach Bobby Ratliff, scored four runs on seven hits. Mullins (two hits, one RBI), Carolyne Moberly (one hit, three RBIs), Averie Ratliff (one hit), Zoey Godsey (one hit), Madison Stacy (one hit) and Olivia Robinson (one hit) supplied Perry Central’s offense in the district championship game. Showing power at the plate, Moberly homered. Aiding her pitching cause at the plate, Mullins doubled.
Halle Jones (two hits), Kaydence Stollings (one hit), Peyton Fields (one hit), Maggie Combs (one hit) and Heidi Jones (one hit) accounted for Hazard’s offense.
Defensively, each team committed only one error.
Perry Central notched its 25th win in the 2026 high school softball season.
Both Perry Central (25-13) and Hazard (20-12) advanced to the 14th Region Softball Tournament.
