OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The first Lincoln baseball regional in nearly two decades is here.
Nebraska hosts South Dakota State, Ole Miss and Arizona State in the double-elimination pod, hoping to advance to the program’s first super regional since 2005.
The Huskers open the weekend with the Jackrabbits on Friday at 3:00pm. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. The Rebels and Sun Devils get the night cap at 8:00pm.
Nebraska will send its regular Friday starter Carson Jasa to the mound against SDSU. Will Bolt dismissed the idea of saving his ace for a power conference opponent on Saturday.
“This isn’t some David versus Goliath. It’s just not,” Bolt said of Friday’s matchup. “We have to play a certain brand of baseball to win. We’re not just going to show up and out-talent everybody in the country. So to think we’re going anything other than to go Jasa until we have to take the ball from him because he’s out of bullets, I’m just not really thinking about that.”
Nebraska defeated South Dakota State 5-4 in a close midweek game back on March 4. The Jackrabbits (24-31) made an unlikely run to a Summit League championship as the No. 4 seed to earn their place in this weekend’s regional.
