After Kumar Rocker stuck the Rangers with a three-run lead after six shutout innings, the Texas bullpen crumbled over the next two innings, allowing six runs across the seventh and eighth.
But the Rangers hung around, catcher Danny Jansen driving in a run in the eighth with an RBI double and Joc Pederson hitting his fifth home run in five games to cut the deficit to one run starting out the ninth.
The Rangers then got a little luck with infield singles by Josh Jung and Brandon Nimmo before Jake Burger tied the game with an RBI single.
Ezequiel Duran stepped in next and drove in his 21st run of the month, a bloop single to win the game with Brandon Nimmo scoring the go-ahead run for a 7-6 victory.
It’s the Rangers’ second straight win. They can sweep the Royals on Sunday with Jack Leiter scheduled for the 1:35 p.m. start.
