Top MLB DFS Targets
Pitcher Studs
SP Braxton Ashcraft (PIT), $9,100: Pittsburgh’s embarrassment of riches in the rotation feels unfair. Braxton Ashcraft is its latest big-time pitching prospect to graduate — and he’s scorching hot. Ashcraft has pitched at least six innings with five or more strikeouts in five straight starts. On top of that, he has allowed one run or less in four outings during that stretch. Against a struggling Minnesota offense, he has SP1 overall upside.
Pitcher Value Plays
SP Zebby Matthews (MIN), $7,600: Ashcraft’s opposite number is a great value here. One of Minnesota’s top prospects, Matthews has a 2.37 ERA and 0.84 WHIP in three starts since being called up. He has also pitched six-plus innings in each start, while providing strong strikeout stuff. Matthews won’t keep pitching like an ace forever, but against a middling Pirates lineup, I’ll ride the hot hand.
Infield Studs
2B Brice Turang (MIL), $5,400: The second most expensive second baseman on the board, Turang is worth the price of admission. He hits for average, provides a good amount of pop, and takes a lot of walks. The run-scoring potential is out of this world in a hot Brewers lineup, facing Tatsuya Imai and a Houston pitching staff that hemorrhages runs.
SS CJ Abrams (WSH), $5,700: If there’s one stud play who should be locked into your lineup, it’s Abrams. He has been dynamite as Washington’s cleanup hitter and has outrageous potential facing Griffin Canning. Scoring runs, driving them in, getting on base, stealing bags, crushing homers; there is nothing Abrams can’t do.
Infield Value Plays
C Drew Romo (CWS), $3,300: Despite hitting only .186, Drew Romo continues to provide DFS value with his extra-base pop. The part-time catcher has popped five home runs already and has good run-scoring/RBI potential in a hot White Sox offense. Since he got the day off on Saturday, he’s likely in the squat on Sunday, but make sure to check before locking Romo into your lineup.
1B/2B Jonathan Aranda (TB), $3,800: I have no idea why Aranda’s price isn’t at least $1,000 higher. In the midst of an eight-game hitting streak, the Tampa Bay infielder has been one of the best hitters in baseball. In that span, Aranda has scored six runs, driven in seven, bashed two home runs, and drawn six walks. Facing Angels starter Jack Kochanowicz and his 4.99 ERA, he should feast again.
3B Brady House (WSH), $3,500: Don’t look now, but Brady House may be figuring things out. The young rookie was thrown into the fire and struggled out of the gate, but he has put together some huge games in May. House has driven in seven runs over his last eight games and may be finding his power stroke. Facing Griffin Canning, who has been a disaster, House is in a great spot to produce results.
Outfield Studs
OF Jackson Chourio (MIL), $5,100: It’s great to see Jackson Chourio healthy again. Milwaukee’s young star has put up shaky results since coming off the injured list, but he’s hitting the ball hard. Against Houston, he has the potential for big things. His power-speed combo makes his upside tantalizing against Imai.
Outfield Value Plays
OF Chandler Simpson (TB), $3,600: It’s never a bad thing to fade a bad starting pitcher by drafting the opposing leadoff man. Simpson racks up a lot of base hits, steals a lot of bags, and scores a lot of runs. Tampa’s lineup is in a great spot against Angels starter Jack Kochanowicz, and if they get busy, Simpson will be at the heart of it.
OF Kyle Stowers (MIA), $3,200: After a long injury layoff to begin the season, Kyle Stowers struggled to reclaim his 2025 All-Star form. But he is getting some of his power back, smashing four doubles across his last five games. Mets starter Nolan McLean has taken some lumps this year, and Stowers is a good value to run into one.
