Normal, IL – Four CornBelter pitchers combined to toss a one hit shutout as Normal defeated Burlington 4-0 on May 31 at the Corn Crib.
Normal jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after an RBI fielder’s choice and a pair of run scoring singles.
The final run came across home in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly.
Dom Panozzo started on the mound for Normal. He pitched four innings without allowing a hit while striking out eight Bees. Three relievers combined to hold Burlington to just one hit in the final five frames.
Mitchell Cox made the start on the mound for Burlington. He logged four innings, allowing three runs before tossing three scoreless frames to end his outing. Those four innings mark his longest outing as a Bee. Spencer Spinks and Adam Kudronowicz each pitched two innings out of the bullpen.
Normal improves to 3-3. They’re back in action on Tuesday against Quincy.
Burlington loses the final three games of their road trip to fall to 2-4. They welcome in the Clinton LumberKings for the first of 11 meetings this season on Tuesday at noon for Kids Day.
