Almost one year after the Giants traded Kyle Harrison to the Boston Red Sox, the young left-hander got his revenge on Tuesday night at American Family Field.

Harrison, once the future of San Francisco’s pitching staff and now with the Brewers, struck out a career-high-tying 12 batters in Milwaukee’s 8-3 win over the Giants — and delivered a golden sombrero to the player he was traded for by striking out Rafael Devers three times.

The 24-year-old walked off the mound to a standing ovation in the top of the sixth inning, after giving up a home run to former Brewer Willy Adames and walking Matt Chapman.

Harrison finished with the 12 K’s, four hits and two walks while giving up one earned run over 5 2/3 innings, lowering his ERA on the 2026 MLB season to 1.57. Meanwhile, the Giants don’t have a starting pitcher with an ERA under 4.45.

On the mound for the Giants, Trevor McDonald made a costly mistake in the first inning when he gave up a three-run homer to Jake Bauers with two outs that gave the Brewers an early 3-0 lead.

McDonald fared well after that, keeping Milwaukee off the board until he was replaced by Erik Miller in the sixth inning. Miller pitched a scoreless frame before Sam Hentges came in for the seventh and walked two batters with one out. Caleb Kilian replaced Hentges and coaxed a flyout, then gave up a two-out RBI single to Brice Turang that made it 4-1.

Adames (2-for-3, HR), Daniel Susac (3-for-4) and Luis Arraez (2-for-5, 3B) were some of the bright spots in the Giants’ lineup on Tuesday.

Bryce Eldridge and Jung Hoo Lee, two of San Francisco’s hottest hitters, were out of the starting lineup but made a difference in the eighth. Both came to the plate as pinch hitters, and both delivered two-out RBI singles off Abner Uribe to bring the Giants within one, 4-3.

Tristan Beck couldn’t keep the Brewers off the board in the bottom of the eighth, however, surrendering four runs to put Milwaukee up 8-3. The Giants weren’t able to answer back in the ninth and lost their second straight to the Brewers.

On Wednesday, Giants ace Logan Webb will take the mound looking to at least salvage a split with the Brewers in this four-game series following San Francisco’s losses in the first two contests.
