TRENTON — Jake Koonin singled in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and the Thunder completed an unbeaten homestand with an 8-6 victory over Williamsport on Sunday afternoon.
Trenton (5-0) is off to its best start in the Draft League era after sweeping both Aberdeen and Williamsport. The middle game against the Crosscutters on Saturday night was canceled due to inclement weather.
Mark Gialluisi tacked on an insurance run two batters later after Koonin gave the Thunder the lead.
Koonin, a Princeton University product, was one of three Thunder players to collect a pair of hits along with Ny’Zaiah Thompson and Grant Gray.
Three relief pitchers combined to hold the Crosscuters (1-4) scoreless for the final five innings after the visitors got out to a 6-1 lead.
Elijah Foster got the win with 3.1 innings of scoreless relief. Andrew Berg tossed 1.2 frames and Nate Bennett got his second save in as many opportunities with a 1-2-3 ninth.
