Alejandro Osuna has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock, but not without a plan.
“Osuna will see time at first base and there may be moments where he’s a better matchup than Burger against a tough right-handed pitcher, and he gives us a better option,” Young said.
Burger sports just a .279 OBP against right-handed pitchers, while Osuna has significantly better a .376 OBP against righties, albeit with a lower OPS.
“Jake Burger is a streaky hitter,” Young said of Burger, who has 10 home runs and 38 RBIs this year. “We know that he’ll have two weeks where he’s on fire and then two weeks where maybe he cools off a little bit, and we kind of got to ride the highs and find ways to maybe get him some time off his feet to make sure those little lulls don’t last too long.”
