IOWA CITY — Center Point-Urbana had a busy weekend as they split four games at the City High Invitational.

City High 7, Center Point-Urbana 1

Center Point-Urbana had trouble keeping up with City High (Varsity) in a 7-1 loss on Friday

Center Point-Urbana opened the scoring in the first after an error scored one run.

Molly Carlson homered to center field following a 6-pitch at-bat, which helped City High (Varsity) tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

City High (Varsity) took the lead in the bottom of the third. Eve Vitense homered to center field, scoring three runs, to give City High (Varsity) the upper hand, 4-1.

Quinn Brende earned the win for City High (Varsity). The righty gave up two hits and one run (zero earned) over six innings, striking out one and walking three. Ella Simon took the loss for Center Point-Urbana. The righty went five innings, allowing seven runs (four earned) on eight hits, striking out four and walking three.

Kyra White and Tara Crowley each collected one hit for Center Point-Urbana. Grace Estling stole two bases.

Center Point-Urbana 5, Durant 0

Alexis Anderson threw a shutout to lead Center Point-Urbana past Durant Varsity Wildcats 5-0 on Friday..

Center Point-Urbana were the first to get on the board in the third when Tara Crowley singled, scoring one run.

Isla Petersen took the loss for Durant Varsity Wildcats. The right-handed pitcher went five innings, surrendering four runs (three earned) on nine hits, striking out two and walking none.

Center Point-Urbana amassed 12 hits in the game. Grace Estling and Kyra White were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Center Point-Urbana. White went 3-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Ella Simon collected two hits for Center Point-Urbana in four at bats.

Center Point-Urbana 6, Assumption 4

Center Point-Urbana were triumphant over Assumption 6-4 on Saturday

Center Point-Urbana were the first to get on the board in the first when Ella Simon singled, scoring one run.

Marissa Boynton laid down a sacrifice bunt, which helped Assumption tie the game at one in the bottom of the fourth.

A single by Sophia Caudle gave Assumption the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the fifth.

Brynley Havel singled down the left field line, which helped Center Point-Urbana tie the game at two in the top of the sixth.

Center Point-Urbana made the score 6-2 in the top of the seventh after Kyra White doubled, scoring two runs, Simon singled, scoring one run, and Tara Crowley grounded out, scoring one run.

Simon earned the win for Center Point-Urbana. The starter gave up four hits and four runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out one and walking three. Harper Shook took the loss for Assumption. The starter went seven innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out two and walking three.

Simon and White were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Center Point-Urbana.

North Scott 9, Center Point-Urbana 4

Center Point-Urbana lost to North Scott Varsity Lancers 9-4 on Saturday

North Scott Varsity Lancers jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Laney Welge homered to left field, scoring three runs, Aubrey Toohey doubled, scoring one run, Kamilah Eller singled, scoring one run, Jaylynn Beadel hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Mayah Vogt grounded out, scoring one run.

North Scott Varsity Lancers added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Adalynn Johnson homered to left field, and Vogt singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Payton LeDoux earned the win for North Scott Varsity Lancers. The hurler surrendered three hits and two runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking none. Alexis Anderson took the loss for Center Point-Urbana. The right-handed pitcher went five innings, giving up nine runs (six earned) on nine hits, striking out none and walking two.

Brynley Havel, Grace Estling, Anderson, Ella Simon, Taylor Hoskins, Paige Crock, and Tara Crowley each collected one hit for Center Point-Urbana. Havel, Crock, and Crowley each drove in one run for Center Point-Urbana.
