GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Isaiah James has a big decision to make after high school.
The South Central senior has already signed his National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Duke, but professional scouts are also showing interest ahead of this summer’s MLB Draft.
James dealt with shoulder soreness beginning in March and was unable to pitch again until the end of the regular season. During that stretch, he stayed in the lineup as the designated hitter.
Now healthy, James is preparing for the MLB Draft Combine later this month.
With a fastball that reaches 97 mph, James is expected to draw plenty of attention from major league teams.
The question may not be whether James gets drafted, but when.
Once the draft arrives, he’ll have a decision to make. Head to Duke or begin his professional baseball career.
