COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The Texas A&M baseball team has selected the Athletics’ pitching coordinator, Barry Enright, as its new pitching coach, a person with knowledge of the decision said.
Work with the university, common when filling these kinds of positions, is still under way to formalize the hire, the person said.
The former major-league pitcher has served as a pitching coach in professional baseball since 2019, with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Angels and Athletics organizations.
Enright has also served as the pitching coach for Team Great Britain, which he represented in the 2019 European Baseball Championship. He was born in Stockton, California.
In four seasons of professional pitching at the major-league level, Enright earned a 7-13 record and a 5.57 ERA. His most productive season was his first in 2010, when he picked up a 6-7 record and a 3.91 ERA in 17 starts for the Diamondbacks. He finished his final two major-league seasons with the Angels.
He has also dabbled in professional golf, winning the 2020 TPC Champions Classic of the Outlaw Tour.
Enright replaces Jason Kelly, who was fired as associate head coach and pitching coach last week.
In 2026, the Aggies finished 84th in the nation in ERA (5.24) and tied Arkansas for first in the SEC in home runs allowed with 90. However, the Aggies were eighth in the country in strikeout-to-walk ratio at 3.21.
News of Enright’s selection was first reported by TexAgs.
