Andrew Benintendi’s pinch-hit grand slam lifts the Chicago White Sox to a 5-1 victory over the New York Yankees on Thursday night. Sean Burke dominates on the mound.

The Chicago White Sox earned a much-needed victory on Thursday night, defeating the New York Yankees 5-1 at Yankee Stadium and snapping a nine-game losing streak in the Bronx.

Sean Burke delivered one of his strongest starts of the season, throwing 7.1 innings of one-run ball with eight strikeouts. He kept the potent Yankees lineup in check and set the stage for a late offensive explosion.

The game was tied 1-1 entering the eighth inning before Andrew Benintendi delivered the decisive blow. The veteran outfielder, pinch-hitting, crushed a grand slam off Camilo Doval to put the White Sox ahead 5-1. It was Benintendi’s fourth career grand slam and his biggest moment in a Chicago uniform so far.

Colson Montgomery also continued his hot streak, launching his 20th home run of the season in the process.

The win improved the White Sox to 39-34 and helped them maintain their position atop the AL Central after a tough 11-game stretch against playoff contenders. They finished the road trip 6-5 overall.
