PAPILLION, Neb. (WOWT) – The Kansas City Royals are reportedly promoting their top prospect, Jac Caglianone, to the major leagues, less than a year after selecting him sixth overall in the 2024 MLB Draft, according to multiple reports.
Caglianone, 22, has made a swift ascent through the Royals’ farm system, progressing through Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha. In 50 games this season, the left-handed slugger has compiled a .322 batting average with 15 home runs and 56 RBI, along with a .389 on-base percentage and .593 slugging mark.
Kansas City’s recent offensive struggles have reportedly fast-tracked Caglianone’s promotion to the majors.
The Royals entered Friday fourth in the American League Central at 31-29, thanks in large part to a pitching staff that has allowed just 201 runs this season — second fewest in Major League Baseball behind the New York Mets. However, the offense has lagged behind, producing only 194 runs, ranking second to last in the league ahead of only the Colorado Rockies.
Caglianone is expected to immediately contribute, with MLB.com reporting that he will join the Royals for their upcoming Tuesday game at the St. Louis Cardinals.
