The Spencer County High School Bears baseball team continues to make history by bringing the 8th Regional Championship home on May 30.
To get to the finals, the team battled against Walton-Verona at Thomas More Stadium in Florence, advancing to the Championship game with a final score of 3-2.
After the win over Walton-Verona, New England Patriots Head Coach Mike Vrable sent a special video message to the team, encouraging them for a win in the Championship game.
To become the Champions, the Bears had to face off against North Oldham, and tamed the Mustangs with a final score of 9-0. Along with bringing home the title, head coach Stuart Dill was named the 8th Region Coach of the Year.
The community came out in droves that night, lining up the streets by the high school to welcome the Bears back home.
The first round of the State Tournament will be taking place at Kentucky Proud Park at the University of Kentucky in Lexington on Friday night starting at 8:30 p.m., with the Bears facing off against Johnson Central.
If they advance, the Bears will be taking on the winner of the Pleasure Ridge Park/Corbin game on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

Senior Carter Walters had four at-bats, with two hits, was walked once, struck out once, scored two runs, and had three RBIs.
Sophomore Brennan Walters had three at-bats, with one hit, was walked twice, scored one run, and had one RBI.
Sophomore Eli Dockery had three at-bats, with one hit, was walked once, and scored two runs.
Senior Kaiden Fowler had four at-bats, with one hit, and had one RBI and one stolen base.
Senior Talon Keen had three at-bats, was walked once, struck out once, and had one RBI.
Senior Baylor Hair had one at-bat, was walked once, and scored one run.
Sophomore Griffin Kingsolver had three at-bats, was walked once, struck out once, and had one RBI.
Junior Cameron Tindle had one at-bat, was walked once, struck out once, and scored two runs.
Senior Randy Wakefield had two at-bats, was walked once, and had one RBI.
Junior Noah Cropp had three at-bats, was struck out twice, and scored one run.
Senior Jarrett Stewart pitched the entire game, throwing 77 pitches, including 11 strikeouts, and one walk, and only allowed three hits.
