ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) – The Notre Dame baseball team’s playoff game will be rescheduled after the team bus was involved in a crash on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a social media post on the Notre Dame Bulldog Athletics page, the bus was involved in a wreck on the way to the game. The post goes on to say, “Please pray for our shaken team and coaches, and for all involved.”
According to St. Francois County Sheriff Jeff Crites, only the team bus was involved in the crash. A total of four students were injured and taken to the hospital.
A crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol shows the crash happened at around 2:40 p.m. on MO-C west of Richardson Road. The bus traveled off the right side of the road, overcorrected, and went off the left side of the road before hitting a ditch.
MSHP said two of the students had moderate to serious injuries and had to be taken to area hospitals for treatment.
The sheriff said the North County District provided a bus to take the remaining Notre Dame team and coaches back to Cape Girardeau.
