Mississippi State baseball bolstered its catcher position on Wednesday with the commitment of Burke-Lee Mabeus out of the transfer portal.
Mabeus, previously from the University of Oregon, made his plans known with an Instagram post.
For Oregon this past season, Mabeus had a .286 batting average, eight home runs, 13 doubles, 36 runs scored and 31 runs batted in.Â
The native of Henderson, Nevada was a semifinalist for the Buster Posey Award and made the 2025 Big 10 All-Freshman Team.
Mabeus is a draft-eligible sophomore but has already let it be known that he’s withdrawing his name from consideration for the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft.
With the addition of Mabeus, MSU currently has the second-ranked transfer portal class in the nation according to @64Analytics.
The Bulldogs have landed outfielder Brady Christman, outfielder Jack Souders, pitcher Zach Russell, pitcher Carson Fair, first baseman-pitcher Josiah Overbook, third baseman Nolan Grawe and pitcher
