The Aplington-Parkersburg Falcons got the better of the Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougars Wednesday in Parkersburg winning in a lopsided 12-2 victory.

Aplington-Parkersburg carried a 5-1 after four innings but it was a five-run fifth that put the game out of reach for the Cougars. Sumner-Fredericksburg added a run in the top of the sixth that the Falcons answered with another two runs in the bottom half to put the game away in favor of Aplington-Parkersburg.

Sumner-Fredericksburg used three pitchers who gave up a combined six hits, but the Falcons walked eight times and were hit by pitches three times. The Cougar pitchers struck out three hitters.

Cougar catcher McKoy Nuss went two for three with a pair of singles and Jace Brinkman had a double. Sam Egan and Brody Mitchell each had a single with a run batted in while Jax Brinkman had a single and scored a run.

Sumner-Fredericksburg committed two errors in the field and had one runner thrown out stealing.

The Cougars will play in the North Fayette Valley Baseball Tournament Saturday the 27th where they will face Osage (4-21) at 11:45AM and Alburnett (15-5) at 2:00PM. Monday the 29th will be their last regular season game in Denver (6-10) beginning at 7:00. The postseason begins Friday the 3rd when Sumner-Fredericksburg will play in the IHSAA Substate 7 game against the 16-6 South Hardin Tigers in Eldora. This game has a start time of 7:00PM.
