CINCINNATI – The Milwaukee Brewers completed a three-game sweep of the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park, extending their National League Central lead to 12.5 games.

Milwaukee improved to 49-29, a season-best 20 games over .500, while Cincinnati fell to 37-42. The Reds were swept at home for the first time since 2024, ending a streak of 44 consecutive home series without being swept. Milwaukee has also won 18 of its last 21 series against Cincinnati dating back to 2021.

Game 1: Brewers 2, Reds 1 (10 innings)

Monday’s series opener was a pitchers’ duel between Brandon Woodruff and Brady Singer.

Making his first start since April 30, Woodruff carried a perfect game into the sixth inning and kept the Reds to one hit over six scoreless innings while striking out 10.

Singer matched him nearly pitch for pitch, allowing just two hits over seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.

The game remained scoreless until the 10th inning when Joey Ortiz lifted a sacrifice fly to score Jake Bauers. Garrett Mitchell later scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.

The Reds answered with an RBI groundout by Sal Stewart in the bottom half but couldn’t complete the comeback as Joel Kuhnel recorded the final outs.

Game 2: Brewers 2, Reds 0

Milwaukee secured the series Tuesday behind another dominant pitching performance.

Rookie Brandon Sproat allowed just one hit over six shutout innings while striking out a career-high 10 batters.

Nick Lodolo tossed four scoreless innings before leaving with a left wrist contusion after being struck by a comebacker. Reliever Julian Garcia was charged with the loss.

Jake Bauers broke the scoreless tie in the sixth inning, and Andrew Vaughn added an insurance run in the eighth.

The Reds welcomed back Elly De La Cruz from the injured list, but he finished 0-for-3 with two strikeouts as Cincinnati was limited to two hits for the second straight game.

Game 3: Brewers 6, Reds 5

The Brewers completed the sweep Wednesday behind an early power display before holding off a late Cincinnati rally.

William Contreras launched a two-run home run in the third inning before Jake Bauers followed with a solo shot, marking Milwaukee’s first back-to-back home runs of the season.

Andrew Vaughn delivered the biggest hit of the afternoon in the seventh, clearing the bases with a pinch-hit double to extend the lead to 6-1.

The Reds battled back. Eugenio Suárez drove in a run with a double in the seventh before Spencer Steer hit a two-run homer in the eighth to trim the deficit to one.

Cincinnati loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, but Joel Kuhnel induced a game-ending 6-4-3 double play to complete the sweep.

The series continued Cincinnati’s struggles within the division, as the Reds fell to 2-16 against National League Central opponents this season.

Cincinnati will head Pittsburg to face another N.L. central team in the Pirates for a weekend series.
