CHICAGO (KCTV) – The Kansas City Royals will be without right-handed pitcher Stephen Kolek for his scheduled start Friday night in Chicago.
Kolek will miss the start against the White Sox with the Royals announcing Friday afternoon that he was being placed on the paternity list. Royals.TV’s Joel Goldberg said Thursday Kolek was going home due to the birth of his first child.
In a corresponding move, Mitch Spence has been recalled from Triple-A Omaha.
Kolek this year has a 4-2 record and 4.15 ERA. He’s made several starts with the Royals rotation dealing with several injuries this season.
The Royals will need to fill Kolek’s spot in the rotation Friday night. They’ll play the White Sox at 6:40 p.m. CT.
