Another spring season has come and gone for the Waseca Bluejays, and they have Big South all-conference honors to show for it.
In baseball, softball, boys tennis, and golf, Waseca had ten total athletes receive all-conference honors, with six making the team and four being named honorable mentions.
Baseball
The Bluejays baseball team had a slow start to their season this past spring, but they ended up turning a corner to close out the regular season and won two playoff games. They ended the regular season with a 5-2 record in seven games and entered the playoffs on a three-game win streak.
Senior Logan Reger was a key contributor for the Jays this season, as he was a force both at the plate and on the pitcher’s mound. That ended up resulting in him being named to the Big South black division all-conference team.
As a pitcher, Reger pitched the second-most innings for the Jays behind junior Hayden Stencel with 33. He ended up posting a 3-2 record with a 4.45 earned run average. One of his best performances, if not the best, of his senior season came in Waseca’s first playoff game. Hosting Minnesota Valley Lutheran at home, Reger pitched 5.1 innings and gave up no hits and just one run. Waseca won the game 3-1.
At the plate, Reger led the team in at-bats and plate apperances and posted a batting average of .307 and was the team leader in hits (23), singles (17, tied with senior Jaiden Schafer), doubles (six), and runs (12, tied with Schafer).
Softball
Waseca also had one Bluejay be name to the Big South black division all-conference team, and they also had three honorable mentions.
Hannah Sommers continued to shine after having a great eighth-grade season in 2025 and was once again named to the all-conference team this season as a freshman.
Also being recognized for all-conference honors was freshman Avery Barto, senior Madison Roessler, and sophomore Hannah Rugger. Barto was also an honorable mention last season as an eighth-grader.
Boys Tennis
The Waseca boys tennis team once again had a solid and successful season, going undefeated in Big South black divisional play with a 4-0 record and once again competing in the Big South Conference championship.
A big strength for the jays this year was at the singles, as they had a group of four athletes ranging from seventh-grade to 11th that shined match in and match out. Three of them made the all-conference team in junior Henry Huttemier, sophomore Armaan Bhatti, and freshman Keenan Collins and No. 1 doubles player Allen Kopetzki was named as an honorable mention in his senior season.
Huttemier stepped up as the N0. 1 singles player for the Jays this spring and he ended up advancing to the second day of the Section 1A individual tournament, going 2-1 in three matches at sections. On the season, he had a 12-11 overall record on the seasons in his matches, going 10-9 at No. 1 singles and 1-0 in one doubles match in the regular season and team playoffs.
Bhatti and Collins were Waseca’s No. 2 and No. 3 singles players after being on the No. 1 doubles team last season together. They both excelled on their own as Bhatti had a season record of 13-9 and Collins went 17-4.
Kopetzki was paired with junior Nolan McQuery at No. 1 doubles for the majority of the season, with him also competing in a few individual matches. He went 1-0 at No. 3 singles and 2-1 at No. 4 singles.
Golf
Senior Madison Rasche closed out her high school golf career this season and she ended up being named to the Big South all-conference team representing Waseca and the black division.
At the Big South Championship on Monday, May 11 in Morton, Rasche finished in 22nd-place in the individual standings with a score of 104. She was the leader and the top-seeded golfer of Waseca’s girls team this year.
