Over the last few weeks, the Merrimack Valley Conference Athletic Directors have announced the league’s first and second all-conference teams for baseball, softball, boys’ and girls’ lacrosse, boys’ and girls’ tennis, and boys’ and girls’ track.
Tewksbury was well represented with five first-team selections, 22 second-team selections, and three coaches named MVC Coach of the Year.
Starting with baseball, senior Colin Durkin and sophomore Logan Augustyniak were named to the first team.
As a pitcher, Durkin has an impressive 1.18 ERA over 41.2 innings, giving up 31 hits, while striking out 39.
Augustyniak batted .353 with one home run and 11 RBI. He also stole 13 bases in 14 attempts, stroked six doubles, and posted a .451 on-base percentage and .955 OPS.
Junior Jake Cunha and senior Ben Barrasso were named to the second team.
In softball, sophomore outfielder/third baseman Kayleigh Martin was the lone player selected to the first team.
She was a near impossible out at the plate, batting .519 with 27 singles, nine doubles, two triples, four home runs, 30 RBI, 28 runs scored, and five walks. He also had a .551 on-base percentage and a .827 slugging percentage.
In two years, she already has 74 career hits.
Sophomore Chloe Veator and junior Lila Areias were named to the second team.
In boys’ tennis, Rick Keene was named the MVC Division 2 Coach of the Year. His two doubles teams, Blake Adams and Zak Hajduk, and Gavin Todd and Vincent Godin, were both named to the second team.
In girls’ lacrosse, goalie Lydia Barnes was the lone player selected to the all-conference team.
In boys lacrosse, Cam Guendner was named the MVC Division 2 Sportsman of the Year, as well as to the first all-conference team.
The senior attack finished the season with 51 goals, 33 assists and 84 points, as well as picking up 32 groundballs and causing 15 turnovers.
He finished his career with 250 points, breaking the program’s record.
His teammate, Jake Burns, was named to the second team.
Finally, both the boys and girls track teams had great success, finishing 5-0 to capture the MVC Division 2 titles, while Fran Cusick (girls) and Kevin MacDonald (boys) were named Coaches of the Year.
Nine members of the girls’ team were selected to the MVC second team: Anaka Narayanan, Cadence King, Sarah Marano (also 400 hurdles), and Sophia Nazzaro (also 100 hurdles) were selected as part of the 4×100 relay team.
Daelynn Christopher, Lauren Ryan, Lilyana Thorne, and Maeve Burns were named as part of the 4×800 relay team, and Shea MacDonald was named in the high jump.
On the boys’ side, Evan Smith (400, pole vault), Ian Todd (javelin), Joseph Todd (pole vault), and Steven Oppedisano (2 mile) were named to the second team.
