Good morning! Always a good feeling to grab a win on Crochet day, even moreso when it’s actually a decision win for the newfound ace. Here’s some more feel good news: Blaze Jordan has been promoted to Worcester, which means Ryan Noda will likely be taking a more prominent outfield role, allowing for a possible Nate Eaton demotion to bring up a certain outfield prospect sitting in Worcester? And what if that prospect had yet another hit, and scored? And what if another outfield prospect has been positively raking since his promotion from Portland? Let’s get into it!
Worcester: W, 7-4 (BOX SCORE)

Roman Anthony had his 24-game on-base streak snapped a few days ago, but he was back to his usual ways on Sunday against the Rail Riders (Yankees AAA). The more important news, though, is how impressive Bryan Mata looked despite a shaky last few weeks. Isaiah Campbell held down the fort in the final two innings for Jhostynxon Garcia to pull the WooSox to within two with the bases loaded in the sixth and for Tyler McDonough to pull the team ahead with a home run that scored him and Grandal in the seventh. “Password” then collected his second hit of the afternoon with his fourth home run in less than two weeks since his promotion to Triple-A. Garcia is hitting almost .400 in that time span with an OPS well over 1.
Portland: L, 5-7 (BOX SCORE)

Elsewhere in Pennsylvania, against Altoona (Pirates AA), the Sea Dogs teed off against the Curve’s starting pitcher. Zach Ehrhard hit not just his first home run of his Double-A stint but also his second, and Mark Koloszvary, AA’s most overqualified catcher, added one of his own. Sadly, the team went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position, though, and two of those three longballs were solo shots. Yordanny Monegro had yet another respectable start, going six and allowing as many hits, but he struck out just two and the offense couldn’t pull much past the three earned runs Monegro let pass.
Greenville: L, 8-9 (F/12) (BOX SCORE)

Franklin Arias had the day off Saturday against Jersey Shore (Phillies High-A) but, on Sunday, he would lengthen that hitting streak of his to twelve games. Miguel Bleis also was magical, collecting three hits, the most notable being a go-ahead shot in the tenth inning. This game was tied at three going into extra innings, and each team scored a run in each half of their respected frame until Albert Feliz gave up a two-run shot and Greenville mustered just one run in the bottom half and went down silently after Yophery Rodriguez scored.

Justin Gonzalez and Freili Encarnacion kept on raking down in Salem in the finale against the Mudcats… but they’re about the only ones who did so on Sunday, as Salem recorded just one more hit, a Starlyn Nunez home run. This was a tough game to lose, because Noah Song again looked awesome, striking out two, and Blake Aita carried things the rest of the way but allowed three home runs. In fact, four of the five hits Salem allowed Carolina all night went into the stands, so it was really a feast or famine game, as both teams COMBINED had four hits that weren’t home runs, and it’s hard to compete when the night goes that way.
Have a happy start to your week!
