HOSTS HAVE HOT START

The Knights kicked the action off with their 12-1 rout over the Pocatello Rebels. Brylan Ginestar, Kanon Bartlett and Oliver Akin combined for a four-inning no-hitter while Akin led the offense. Ginestar struck out four through two full innings, Bartlett struck out three in his inning and a third, and Akin ended the game by striking out the final batter. Green River outhit their opponents 7-0, with Akin and Manuel Munoz both going 2-for-2 and hitting for extra bases. Akin swiped four stolen bases and came around to score three times while Munoz knocked two doubles and drove in three RBI.

In their only game against a Utah team, the Knights were outhit by the Cattle 7-1 in their 6-3 defeat. Akin provided the only Green River hit of the game and scored a run alongside Landon Smart and Travin Brown. Draiven Houchin and Sam Dockter split the five innings on the mound, combining for seven hits, six earned runs, four walks and one strikeout.

Green River scored big in their contest against Riverton, but the Raiders pulled off the 14-9 victory. Smart, Korbin Nielson and Dockter each had a pair of hits, accounting for every knock by the Knights’ lineup. The trio had a combined four runs scored and six RBI, plus a pair of doubles. Aiden Mandros and Aiden Cook pitched three innings each and together totaled 13 hits, 11 earned runs, six walks and nine strikeouts.

The Knights only needed three hits to top the Razorbacks in their first meeting. Akin scored twice in his 1-for-3 game to lead the offense, while Mandros and Smart added hits as well. Smart was credited with the team’s only RBI. Brylan Ginestar pitched the complete seven-inning game and finished with seven hits, one earned run, two walks and six strikeouts.

The Razorbacks got their revenge in the rematch. Pocatello held Green River to just three hits in the seven-inning shutout. This time, Smart, Cook and Munoz contributed the hits, but could not turn them into any runs. Dockter and Munoz joined forces on the mound for five hits, three earned runs, four walks and four strikeouts.
