A former LSU Baseball pitcher has announced his transfer destination for the 2027 college baseball season.

DJ Primeaux has committed to Nicholls State University, per his social media bios on X and Instagram, after he entered his name into the transfer portal in June.  

Coming out of high school, Primeaux was ranked as the No. 1 left-handed pitcher and the No. 7 overall player in the state of Louisiana by Perfect Game. According to LSU Athletics, Primeaux was a first-team All-State and All-District pitcher at Central High School.

In his senior season at Central High School, Primeaux posted a 10-4 record with a 1.51 ERA and 133 strikeouts in 86 innings, according to LSU Athletics. In his first season in Baton Rouge in 2023, Primeaux redshirted as a true freshman.

Primeaux started to see action on the mound in 2024, as he appeared in nine games for LSU as a reliever. According to LSU Athletics, Primeaux worked 3.2 innings with no decisions and a 2.45 ERA. He would appear in nine games for the Tigers during the 2024 season.

In 2025, Primeaux made 22 relief appearances, posting no decisions and a 3.86 ERA in 14.0 innings with eight walks and 13 strikeouts, according to LSU Athletics. In that same season, Primeaux held opponents to a .224 batting average.

During the 2026 season, Primeaux logged 2.1 innings with four strikeouts and a 9.00 ERA, according to LSU Athletics.

Primeaux was also named to the 2024 and 2025 SEC Academic Honor Roll during his tenure in Baton Rouge.

Primeaux is set to join the Nicholls baseball team that finished the 2026 season 25-26 overall and 15-13 in Southland Conference play.
