The Seattle Mariners are sending right-handed pitcher Will Klein to the Dodgers in exchange for left-hander Joe Jacques in a pitcher for pitcher swap, per MLB insider Ari Alexander.
Klein was designated for assignment by the Mariners on May 31. The right-hander has not made a Major League appearance this season.
Klein began the season with the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers where he produced a 7.17 ERA with 32 strikeouts and three saves across 22 appearances. The right-hander was traded to the Mariners last offseason in exchange for international bonus pool space.
In 2024, Klein split the season between the Kansas City Royals and Athletics. With the Royals, the right-hander sported a 6.35 ERA with six strikeouts across 5.2 innings pitched.
Klein struggled with the Athletics, logging a 27.00 ERA with one strikeout in just 1.2 innings of work. The Dodgers are desperate for bullpen reinforcements, and Klein will likely be the latest reclamation project for L.A.
While Klein has seen little time in the big leagues, the Dodgers currently have 15 pitchers on the injured list and have called up several arms to aid a struggling pitching staff.
Jacques never made a Major League appearance for the Dodgers. He signed a minor league contract with the defending champions in November 2024.
The lefty has a career 5.46 ERA with 22 strikeouts and 1.652 WHIP across 29.2 innings pitched.
