LSU baseball now has the top-ranked transfer portal class in the country, according to 64Analytics. LSU shot up to No. 1 after the addition of transfer outfielder Angel Laya.
LSU’s class has eight transfers, and all eight rank in 64Analytics’s top 250. Notre Dame transfer Bino Watters is the top-ranked of the group, sitting No. 7 overall. Laya isn’t that far behind, ranking No. 9. Of LSU’s eight transfers, five are position players and three are pitchers.
Former Gonzaga pitcher Landon Hood headlines the group of arms. He was a breakout freshman with the Bulldogs in 2026 and figures to be a high-leverage arm for LSU in 2027. He has two years before he can enter the draft and will likely compete for a spot in LSU’s starting rotation before he leaves Baton Rouge.
After a disappointing season in which LSU missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011, LSU has several needs to address. The Tigers are projected to lose several veteran outfielders, but Johnson and staff signed three talented outfielders.
On the infield, LSU added Florida 2B Cade Kurland and Texas State shortstop Dawson Park. With LSU shortstop Steven Milam returning, Park projects to play third base.
