CINCINNATI — Two of the Reds’ upcoming stars in starting pitcher Chase Burns and first baseman Sal Stewart, will represent the club during all-star weekend.

This is the first all-star appearance for both players in their careers.

Burns has dominated this season with a 10-1 record in 17 starts with a 2.40 ERA. He was sixth in ERA overall at the start of play on July 4. His 1.08 WHIP was also tied for 14th as of July 4.

Stewart, a 22-year-old rookie, has led the team in home runs with 17 and RBIs with 61 this year. Stewart is also second on the team in total runs and bases stolen.

He is leading all NL rookies in homers, walks and stolen bases. The first baseman is also leading rookies overall in RBIs and is seventh in MLB.
