Over the weekend the Colorado Rockies became the first team in MLB history to hit 50 losses before reaching their tenth win. What dubious history will they make next? Can they hit 20 wins before 100 losses?

The Rockies are now off to sunny Florida to take on the Miami Marlins, a team mired in mediocrity but with twice the wins of our beleaguered purple heroes.

Making his 12th start for the Rockies is the right-handed Germán Márquez. Márquez has turned in back-to-back Quality Starts in his last two outings, giving up four total runs (three earned) over 13 innings. He’s also striking out more batters with a focus on his excellent knuckle curve in combination with his four seam fastball. He’s also been throwing his slider and changeup less often.

On the bump for the Marlins is right-handed pitcher Max Meyer. Meyer is making his 12th start of 2025 and is carrying a 4.53 ERA into today’s game with 63 strikeouts over 59 2⁄3 innings of work. He’s made just one start against the Rockies in his career in which he gave up five runs (four earned) on five hits and four walks. Meyer currently works with a five pitch arsenal. His primary pitch is a slider that hits just under 90 MPH with a whopping 35.3 inches of vertical drop and 2.4 inches of glove-side break. The pitch carries a 42.9% whiff rate so far this season. He also uses a four seam fastball, a changeup, a sinker, and a sweeper.
