Single-A Regional Tournament qualifying breakdown
The runner-up of the Division 1 state tournament will head to the Northwest Class A Regional Tournament (NWCART). This tournament is in Casper from August 6 through August 10, 2026, at Mike Lansing Field. The Casper Drillers were designated as the host team by the Legion State Board. Wyoming will get a second team in the field in 2026, which is typical for the host state.
There are a few notes to grasp about the NWCART. The enrollment threshold number is 1250 students enrolled in High School, grades 10-12. If Gillette, Cheyenne, Casper, Rock Springs, or Jackson were to be the runner-up in the Division 1 tournament, they could not send any players 18 years old or older to the NWCART per the National rules. That means the Riders, Sixers, and Oilers cannot attend.
Here are the teams that are eligible for the NWCART. This group of teams: the Cheyenne Hawks, Gillette Rustlers, Casper Drillers, Casper Wildcatters, Rock Springs Stallions, and Jackson Giants could qualify, but they cannot send 18- or 19-year-old players to the NWCART due to the enrollment restrictions. The rest of the teams are eligible if they are the last qualifying team left in the bracket. Those teams are: the Cody Cubs, Douglas Cats, Green River Knights, Lander Legends, Laramie Rangers, Laramie JV Rangers, Lovell Mustangs, Powell Pioneers, Riverton Raiders, Sheridan Troopers, Sheridan Jets, Torrington Tigers, and Wheatland Lobos.
If you look at the current standings, the teams that could go to the NWCART include the Cheyenne Hawks, Cody Cubs, Laramie Rangers, Powell Pioneers, Sheridan Troopers, Sheridan Jets, Torrington Tigers, and the Jackson Giants without any 18-year-olds.
Don’t forget the young guys
Just around the corner are Legion B and C State Tournaments. Riverton hosts the Class B State Tournament, and Laramie hosts the Class C State Tournament. Both will be from July 17 through July 20, 2026.
