Four people were arrested after a fight broke out in the left-field stands of Oracle Park near the end of the Giants’ win Thursday night over the Rockies in what the team called a “horrible and intolerable display of behavior.”
The fight broke out in the top of the ninth inning as the Giants were getting the game’s final outs, and video of the incident spread on social media Thursday evening.
The San Francisco Police Department’s initial investigation determined “the altercation was the result of a verbal dispute that turned physical.”
Some nearby fans tried to step in, and ushers came down the aisle to slow down the fighting, but the brawl went on for more than a minute before any security or police arrived.
Police officers walked several people out in handcuffs, including a man with a bloodied nose.
Major Norton, 29 of Suisun City, faces charges of assault, disturbing the peace and public intoxication. The other three arrested face just the peace-disturbing and public intoxication charges: Jaylynn Del Toro, 21 of Fresno; Elijah Ortega-Garcia, 23 of Selma and Gisselle Lopez, 26 of Vallejo.
All four were booked into San Francisco County Jail.
Three other people were detained by police and released without charges.
The Giants said those arrested will be banned from games.
