PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – (WDAM) – With the seventh pick in the 2026 MLB Draft, the Baltimore Orioles selected Eric Booth Jr. from Oak Grove High School.
A 6-foot left-handed hitting outfielder, Booth is one of the top prep players in this year’s draft class. MLB.com lists him as their No. 6 overall prospect.
In four seasons at the varsity level with Oak Grove, Booth had a career .441 batting average, with a 1.415 OPS, 86 RBI, 130 hits, and 16 home runs.
He’s widely viewed as one of the fastest players in his draft class, clocked at going from home to first in a little over four seconds and ran the quickest 60-yard dash (6.33 seconds) at the East Coast Pro showcase in August.
This is now back-to-back years the Pine Belt has seen a high school star taken in the top ten picks of the MLB Draft. Last year, the Toronto Blue Jays selected Purvis grad Jojo Parker eighth overall.
Booth is currently signed to play College Baseball at Vanderbilt University.
