Outfielder Aiden Robbins was taken 92nd overall (third round) by the New York Mets Saturday night. He is the second Texas baseball player taken in this year’s draft class. In his only year with the Longhorns, the junior led the team in slugging percentage (.696), RBIs (64), home runs (24), hits (79), total bases (165), walks (55) and at-bats (237). He bat .333 and had a career-high two home runs during a Austin Regional win over Holy Cross. He was named the regional’s most outstanding player and was named an All-American by multiple organizations.
Robbins transferred to UT from Seton Hall. As a sophomore he led the team in average (.422), runs (63), hits (86) doubles (19), total bases (133), walks (44), on-base percentage (.537), slugging (.652), stolen bases (20) and multi-hit games (26). As a freshman, he had a .302 average with 26 runs.
The Yardley, Pa. was named first-team All-SEC after being first-team All-Big East.
