COLD SPRING — ROCORI High School graduate Jack Spanier was taken in the 13th round with the 386th overall pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the Major League Baseball Draft that concluded on Sunday, July 12, in Philadelphia.
Spanier, a junior, was the starting shortstop and leadoff hitter for the University of Minnesota this past spring. He is listed at 6-foot and 185 pounds.
He hit .291 with 16 doubles, four triples, five homers, 35 RBI, 14 stolen bases and a .428 on-base percentage in 51 games for the Golden Gophers.
In three seasons at Minnesota, Spanier hit .285 with 21 doubles, five triples, six homers, 51 RBI, 25 stolen bases and a .415 on-base percentage in 87 games. He was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten pick, was named to the 2024 All-Big 10 Freshman Team, the 2025 Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree and was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2025.
