Florida State baseball clinched its spot in Super Regionals on Sunday, pulling off a late-game comeback vs. the Mississippi State Bulldogs to keep its dreams of a national championship chugging along.

After waiting for the dust to settle out of the Corvallis Regional, the Seminoles now know the next obstacle in the road to Omaha — the Oregon State Beavers.

The Beavers needed to fight their way out of the loser’s bracket after losing their opening game but cruised the rest of the way, capped off by crushing the USC Trojans in both games of the regional final.

This week’s matchup will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

The Beavers have won three national championships in program history — 2006, 2007 and 2018 — and have competed as the lone independent program in college baseball this year, opting to ride it out solo rather than join a conference following the implosion of the Pac-12. Like Florida State, they are also coached by a former player: Mitch Canham, who is in his sixth year with Oregon State. The squad is battle-tested, finished the regular season with a 41-12-1 record, stringing together a road-game filled resume worthy of the eighth-overall seed.
