ADRIAN, Michigan — The Napoleon American Legion Post #300 baseball team completed its regular season, finishing runner-up at the Adrian American Legion Baseball Tournament over the weekend.
The River Bandits were 4-2 at the tournament, with both losses coming against Blissfield, Michigan.
On Friday, Napoleon swept a pair of games, defeating Post 568 13-6 and Hudson, Michigan, 8-2.
In the opener, Elijah Arend (Fairview) and Anthony Singer (Fairview) each were 5 for 5 at the plate to lead the offense. Arend had a double, three runs and two RBI, while Singer had a double and five RBI.
Kaden Kreinbrink (Liberty Center) was 3 for 5 with a home run and an RBI, while Camden Bukowski (Bryan) and Cade Carlin (Bryan) each had two hits.
Owen Reynolds (Tinora) was the winning pitcher, going 6 1/3 innings and allowing six runs (one earned) on eight hits and no walks, while striking out five.
In the nightcap, Singer was 4 for 4 with a double and an RBI to pace the offense, while Arend was 3 for 4 with two doubles and four RBI.
Cory Herman (Edgerton) was the winning pitcher, going 4 2/3 innings and allowing two runs (none earned) on three hits and no walks, while striking out five.
On Saturday, the Bandits started with a 9-1 loss to Blissfield.
Arend, Carlin, Kreinbrink and Zack Boecker (Holgate) each had a single. Ryan Maag (Atersville) took the loss on the mound.
Napoleon bounced back with a 5-4 win over Huron, scoring four runs in the sixth inning after trailing 4-1.
Arend was 2 for 4, while Maddox Baker (Edgerton) was 1 for 3 with two RBI and Kenneth Smeltzer (Montpelier), Malachi Smeltzer (Montpelier) and Kreinbrink each had a double.
Arend was the winning pitcher, throwing 3 1/3 innings of relief. He allowed one run on one hit and no walks, while striking out one. Carlin pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing three runs (none earned) on five hits and three walks, while striking out four.
On Sunday, the River Bandits again defeated Hudson, 5-2 in 10 innings.
Kenneth Smeltzer was 2 for 4, while Baker was 1 for 3 with two RBI.
Kreinbrink was the winning pitcher, throwing a scoreless 10th inning. Boecker went eight innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and a walk, while striking out five.
In the title game, Blissfield defeated Napoleon 8-1, holding the Bandits to three hits.
Kreinbrink was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI, while Bukowski and Kenneth Smeltzer had the other hits.
Bukowski took the loss on the mound.
Napoleon (27-12) faces the winner of West Unity Post #669 and Ottawa Post #63 in the District 1 Tournament tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Pemberville.
