Alex Schoepp hit a home run to help slug Verona to a 14-1 road win over Argyle on Sunday, July 12, in a Home Talent Western Section League game.
The Cavaliers (8-1) pounded out 14 hits in seven innings. Schoepp went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored. Jacob Slonim finished 3-for-5 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored.
The Cavaliers got on the board in the top of the third, on Liam Stumpf’s RBI single to center. The Beavers walked in a run to give the Cavaliers a 2-0 lead. Schoepp hit a solo home run to left in the top of the fifth.
Liam Stumpf went 2-for-4 with two RBis and two runs scored. Colby Davis finished 2-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored. James Rae also went 2-for-4. Stumpf pitched five shutout innings and struck out five.

Brady Patten and Levi Fey combined to pitch a six-hit shutout to lead the Cavaliers to a win over the Blue Devils.
Patten started on the mound, and struck out five and scattered six hits in five innings to earn the win. Fey tossed two shutout innings in relief. He struck out three and walked two.
Rae hit a home run, knocked in two runs and scored two runs. The Cavaliers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in top of the first after Colby Davis walked to bring in a run and Owen Davis knocked in a run on a groundout.
Owen Davis hit a solo home run to left in the top of the sixth to give the Cavaliers a 5-0 lead.
