NORTH PROVIDENCE — It will be winner take all.
That will be the situation on Tuesday as third-seeded Chariho will host a decisive game for the Division 2 pod 1 baseball championship following a 3-0 road victory on Monday over No. 1 seed North Providence.
The Chargers (15-8) scored all of their runs in the top of the seventh inning on three hits.
Christian Mancini hit a one-strike pitch with one out to centerfield for a RBI triple that scored Gavyn Pepler (leadoff double) for a 1-0 lead.
Dayton Lee followed with a squeeze bunt that scored Mancini. And after Ethan Elderkin moved Lee up 90 feet with a sacrifice bunt, Gavin Apice made it 3-0 with a RBI single.
Landon Sumner was spectacular on the mound for Chariho throwing a complete game two-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Sumner allowed leadoff singles in the fourth and sixth innings. He retired the final six batters to end the game.
Game time for Tuesday at Chariho High is 3:45. The winner will face last year’s Division 2 runner-up East Greenwich in the best-of-three D2 championship series.
East Greenwich. the No. 7 seed, went undefeated through Pod B and clinched its spot with a 9-8 victory on Monday over Central High.
