Wait, wasn’t the Futures Game a couple of days ago?
Not for the Rangers, it wasn’t.
On Tuesday, while most of baseball had its eyes turned to the All-Star Game, top prospect Sebastian Walcott made his 2026 debut for the Arizona Complex League Rangers as the DH. He went 1 for 3 against San Francisco’s rookies before being replaced by a pinch hitter.
“He has checked all of the appropriate medical boxes in terms of his rehab,” Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker said. “He’s cleared for games as a DH and we’ll see where he takes it from here. Like most things Sebastian does, he’s tackled rehab with force and we are excited to see what the rest of 2026 has in store for him.”
Walcott is the Rangers’ No. 1-ranked prospect and 10th-ranked among all minor leaguers, according to MLB Pipeline, despite missing more than three months of the season.
Walcott was playing catch on the elbow, but it was expected that would require longer recovery before he could play the field.
It isn’t clear how long Walcott will be with the ACL Rangers, but the club is expected to move him to a full-season affiliate rather quickly if he shows no issues. Walcott finished last year at Double-A Frisco.
