Welcome to the seventh installment of the 2025 season. This post provides a visual breakdown of the Rangers minor league system, weekly transactions, analysis and context.

ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERS (FULL SEASON)
Level and age in parenthesis. I’ve included the top two for each of our full season affiliates. If you enjoy these stats, let me know and I’ll add in the ACL and DSL when they have some more games under their belt. Otherwise, I’ll bypass, because it’s time consuming to put it together.

Quick thoughts: We have been talking about Evan Carter and Alejandro Osuna for a while, but keep in mind that they are only 22. Mitch Bratt, who has been the Futures Game and seemed to fade away? He’s only 21. It puts it in perspective when we talk about the clock ticking on Justin Foscue at the age of 26, Blaine Crim at 28 or Arturo Disla in high-A ball at 24 … Aaron Zavala is putting up the best BB% of all our regular full time affiliates and rocking an OPS of over .800 at Frisco all year. He’s repeating the level for the third year after a rocky 2023 and 2024. I’ve been banging the drum for him to be promoted, as with Bratt and Kohl Drake. Dalton Pence is somebody who has not received a lot of attention, but he is putting up a nice campaign for Hickory. Luis Mieses was a minor league free agent outfielder who was brought back into the organization after 2024 with Frisco and Hickory (then high A) and developing in the White Sox organization prior to that. He is a old for AA. If he can continue to hit, his career may ultimately mimic Sandro Fabian, getting an opportunity overseas.
AAA ROUND ROCK
6/1 Texas Rangers selected the contract of RHP Codi Heuer from Round Rock Express.
5/30 Texas Rangers sent CF Evan Carter on a rehab assignment to Round Rock Express.
5/29 Texas Rangers sent RHP Kumar Rocker on a rehab assignment to Round Rock Express.
5/28 Round Rock Express activated RHP Marc Church from the 7-day injured list.
5/28 Round Rock Express activated RHP Peyton Gray from the temporarily inactive list.
5/28 Texas Rangers optioned 1B Blaine Crim to Round Rock Express.
5/27 Round Rock Express placed C Chad Wallach on the 7-day injured list.
5/27 LF Billy McKinney assigned to Round Rock Express.
5/27 SS Alan Trejo assigned to Round Rock Express.
Kumar Rocker’s results were spectacular in his first rehab outing at AAA: 4 IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 5 K on 53 pitches. His next start will be in Arlington now that Nathan Eovaldi has been put on the IL and will miss a couple turns in the rotation … CF Evan Carter will be back in the big leagues in a game or two, as well … RHRP Codi Heuer got his contract purchased, resulting in the DFA of Tucker Barnhart. He was a former young high leverage reliever for the Cubs that had Tommy John surgery in 2022. The Rangers signed him in April of 2024, played the long game and he has proven effective in AAA Round Rock with a 3.27 ERA, 10.23 K/9 and 1.32 WHIP. The walk rate is high as he has averaging a walk every two innings. It may be a brief visit for him as Chris Martin is scheduled to come off the shelf this week … I’m glad that RHRP Peyton Gray had a short stay on the temporarily inactive list. It’s rare to get beat reporting on what is behind those transactions. He has been very effective (2.42 ERA, 22.1 IP, 33 K, 0.99 WHIP). SS Alan Trejo is back in the organization after being released by the Colorado Rockies. Trejo and Richie Martin are providing coverage at SS … 1B/LF Billy McKinney is a veteran sign to provide some stability as 1B Blaine Crim had a brief stay in Arlington … OF/DH Trevor Hauver should be back this week for Round Rock after a rehab assignment in the ACL.
AA FRISCO
5/31 2B Jax Biggers assigned to Frisco RoughRiders from Round Rock Express.
5/29 Frisco RoughRiders transferred C Kale Emshoff from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
5/27 Frisco RoughRiders transferred C Juan Sulbaran to the Development List.
5/27 2B Frainyer Chavez assigned to Frisco RoughRiders from Round Rock Express.
5/27 RHP Florencio Serrano assigned to Frisco RoughRiders from Round Rock Express.
Jax Biggers returns from the IL and a rehab assignment in the ACL. He’s a glue guy whose primary position is 2B. As has been pointed out several times, Florencio Serrano and Frainyer Chavez and organizational catchers are fluid in their placement at minor league levels. They’ll often be shifted up or down a level or two for depth purposes … Transactions of players being shifted to a 60 day or full season injured list will become more common, as Texas has been at 164-165 domestic players this week, butting up against their player limit. Kale Emshoff, for example, no longer counts against that total until reinstated, freeing up a roster spot. There are only so many players that can be shifted over to the full season/60 day IL, so eventually we will see some guys cut that are on the periphery.
A+ HUB CITY
5/27 SS Theo Hardy assigned to Hub City Spartanburgers from Frisco RoughRiders.
Theo Hardy, an organizational depth infielder, is getting regular playing time in the 2B and SS mix with Danyer Cueva and Casey Cook after a .263/.333/.263 in Frisco.
A- HICKORY
5/31 CF Wady Mendez assigned to Hickory Crawdads from Frisco RoughRiders
5/29 Hickory Crawdads placed LHP Luis Valdez on the full-season injured list.
5/27 Hickory Crawdads placed RHP Kamdyn Perry on the 7-day injured list.
Wady Mendez joins an offensively challenged Hickory club now that Jax Biggers has been reinstated at Frisco … Placing Luis Valdez on the full season IL opened up a spot on the organizational domestic 165 man roster … No word on the injury to Kamdyn Perry. An interesting note is that he is active on his Facebook account, promoting pitching tips and may have involvement with Randy Sullivan’s Florida Baseball ARMory on the side. He appears to be actively engaged with the fan base, fielding questions about player mental and physical preparation.
Arizona Complex League (ACL)
5/31 Hickory Crawdads sent RHP Brooks Fowler on a rehab assignment to ACL Rangers.
5/29 ACL Rangers placed SS Curley Martha on the 60-day injured list.
5/27 Round Rock Express sent 2B Trevor Hauver on a rehab assignment to ACL Rangers.
5/27 Round Rock Express sent RHP Aidan Anderson on a rehab assignment to ACL Rangers.
Brooks Fowler was an oddity that I cannot recall seeing before. He pitched in a rehab game for an inning with the ACL Rangers and then pitched the very next game for Hickory going 3.1 IP (his reinstatement from the IL was unreported). Not only is pitching in back-to-back games in the lower minors unusual when on a rehab stint, but following up one inning with multiple seems odd practice. He managed the second outing on a tidy 31 pitches, however … I mentioned in a previous post that there are some guys unable to play for our ACL team, but are not mentioned on a short term 7 day Injured List (IL) because there is no rational reason to do so. There is not a player cap on an ACL’s team roster. However, when there is an organizational need to add somebody to the 165, you may see some of these guys transferred over. 2B/SS/3B Curley Martha was one of three Rangers’ high profile international signs in 2024 for the Dominican League with Paulino Santana and Yolfran Castillo. He had a strong .282/.395/.427 line last year. This year, he only received nine at bats, the last being on May 9th. He is only 18 years old and has plenty of development time ahead of him, but is now officially on the shelf … RHRP Aiden Anderson is the brother of Grant Anderson and has a very similar pitching style and profile to him.
Dominican Summer League (DSL)
I won’t touch on all the DSL transactions in this batch, because there are a lot of them with players getting placed. Take a look at the graphic up top for the breakdown of players and lineups. The starting rotations are a guess right now, especially with some new signs that have no background on them; I have no way of knowing whether they profile more as starters or relievers. Going forward, I am not going to mention players being transitioned from Rangers Blue to Rangers Red. There is a lot of back and forth during the season to address needs. Both teams are facing the same level of competition and will even play each other. As was the case last year, the Rangers Red squad has higher profile prospects on the team overall, but the squads are all about getting the teenagers playing time and attention they need.
A continued interesting note: one of the highest profile international signs that was reported was Hansel Ramirez, son of Hanley Ramirez. That transaction was never official, only reported, and Ramirez does not show up on either of the DSL rosters. What’s going on? … OF/2B Elorky Ramirez was the Rangers’ biggest 2025 international free agent sign, ranked 19th in that class by MLB.com. Other notable bonuses were paid to IF Jhon Simon ($497,500), OF Oliver Guerrero ($397,500) and IF Emil Martinez ($397,500).
EXPLAINING MILB ROSTER CAPS
Round Rock (AAA) and Frisco (AA) each have a 28-player cap, while Hickory (A) and Hub City (A+) can carry 30. The Arizona Complex League (ACL), a short-season rookie league, has no roster limit, but the team can’t have more than three players with over four seasons of minor league experience. Across all domestic affiliates (including players on short-term IL), organizations are limited to 165 players. Players on the 60-day/full-season IL don’t count toward that total. As shown in the depth chart above, the Rangers are currently at 164 … Internationally, the Rangers also field two Dominican Summer League (DSL) teams: Red and Blue. Each has a 35-player cap for active players—not including those inactive, suspended or on the IL
