DETROIT, Mich. (WJRT) – The Detroit Tigers released their 2027 schedule Thursday afternoon, in the midst of a season that fans hope will include a comeback to reach the playoffs for the third straight season.
The Tigers will open the 2027 season with the earliest Opening Day ever at Comerica Park. Detroit will host the Chicago White Sox on March 25 to begin the season.
April will bring homestands against both New York teams, the Mets and the Yankees. The first month of the season will also include a road trip to Los Angeles to face the Dodgers.
A nine-game West Coast road trip is scheduled for August. The regular season will end with a series on the road against the Minnesota Twins.
The hope of a new season comes with some pause, though. A management lockout is expected when baseball’s labor contract expires on Dec. 1.
A similar labor contract negotiation most recently took place in 2022, when a contract agreement wasn’t reached until the middle of March. That delay pushed baseball’s Opening Day back one week.
