Easton Carmichael

Position: Catcher

Height: 6-0

Weight: 200 pounds

Level: High-A

Notable: When the Pittsburgh Pirates drafted Easton Carmichael out of Oklahoma in 2025, they thought they were getting a catcher who developed into a power-hitter while with the Sooners.

But after beginning his professional career with the High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers last August, Carmichael struggled mightily at the plate.

Compared to a .329/.398/.613 slash line with 17 homers and 62 RBIs in his final collegiate campaign, Carmichael slashed just .120/.185/.180 with a homer and two RBIs over his initial 14 games with the Grasshoppers.

Of course, the full transition from metal to wooden bats might have had something to do with that, as well as the price of poker going up from a purely competitive standpoint.

Whatever Carmichael did in the offseason to get on track, it clearly has been working. Through 68 games for the Grasshoppers this season, Carmichael was batting .307 with 15 home runs and 58 RBIs.

The 82nd overall pick (third round) in the 2025 MLB Draft has an on-base percentage of .352 and an OPS of .875. Defensively, Carmichael has played 48 games at catcher, serving as designated hitter in 20 contests.
