With the summer reaching its apex, the youth baseball season is beginning to wind down and in Faribault, there are a pair of teams who will be competing for a championship in their respective playoff brackets.
Faribault’s 14A+ squad reached the championship game with a comeback win over Apple Valley by a score of 9-8 Tuesday evening. The win came at Belle Field and was a battle for the squad as they faced an 8-2 deficit entering the bottom of the sixth inning.

Faribault would rally however, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead for the first time in the game, and after keeping Apple Valley off the scoreboard in the top of the seventh, Faribault had punched their ticket to the championship game.
In the championship, Faribault, which entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed, will take on the No. 5 seeded Waconia Wildcats who upended the top seeded Orono Spartans 11-7.
