ATWATER — Jack Peterson and Carson McCain’s combined efforts helped the Atwater Chuckers move on in the County Line League playoffs.

The third-seeded Chuckers held off sixth-seeded Norway Lake-Sunburg for a 2-0 victory in an amateur baseball contest at Kingery Field.

With the win, Atwater faces second-seeded New London-Spicer at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Green Lake Baseball Diamonds in Spicer. Norway Lake-Sunburg goes into the elimination bracket against an opponent to be determined.

Peterson threw the first four innings for the Chuckers. He struck out two while giving up one hit and no walks. McCain claimed the win after tossing five relief innings. He struck out six with one hit and two walks allowed.

Jaxon Behm paced Atwater’s offense, going 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. David Kingery was 2-for-4 with a stolen base.

Jared Cortez and Justin Johnson each had a hit for the Lakers. Cortez also threw eight innings, striking out eight.

Grayson Fuchs hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning in Paynesville’s first-round win over Regal at Paynesville.

The Pirates are the fourth seed in the County Line League playoffs. The Eagles are the fifth seed.

Paynesville faces top-seeded Starbuck on Saturday at Marthaler Field in Glenwood. Regal plays in an elimination game against an opponent to be named.

Drew Tangen hit for a triple, a run and an RBI for the Pirates. Bennett Evans threw a complete game, striking out 11.

Nathan Meyer was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles for Regal.
