Center fielder Jace LaViolette had three hits and three RBI, including a home run, and the Captains beat the Dragons, 6-2, on July 18 at Classic Park.
LaViolette, the Guardians’ 2025 first-round draft pick, has 15 home runs and 59 RBI this season.
Catcher Tyler Howard hit a solo home run, his second since being called up from Hill City on June 30. First baseman Juan Benjamin also brought in a run with a groundout.
Second baseman Tommy Hawke had three hits and scored two runs. The Captains had 11 total hits and only struck out five times.
Starter Will McCausland went 4 1/3 innings, gave up one run, struck out two and walked one.
Cam Schuelke (3-3) followed with 2 2/3 scoreless innings to get the win, and Donovan Zsak gave up one run in two innings.
Lake County improved to 50-35. The series against the first-half champion Dragons is scheduled to conclude July 19 in Eastlake.
